Background

Hajarah Namwanga is an Associate with over six years’ experience. She is highly involved in litigation, tax advisory and representation of clients before the Tax Appeals Tribunal. 

Hajarah has significant experience in litigation and dispute resolution in the fields of commercial, real estate, land law and Family law. She has represented the firm’s clients in matters before the Court of Appeal, High Court, Chief Magistrates Courts as well as the Tax Appeals Tribunal.

In her practise, she has also handled a broad spectrum of criminal law related matters such as negotiating plea bargain agreements with the state and holding state briefs.

Key matters

  • Prosecution of cases against the Government of Uganda in which the clients were awarded general and special damages worth Ugx 300,000,000/-.
  • Handled technical matters relating to tax compliance, tax advisory in multi-disciplinary fields of taxation where the tax liability of clients was significantly revised.
  • Assisted the team at the firm through vigorous litigation at the Tax Appeals Tribunal to resolve tax disputes against Uganda Revenue Authority.
