Background

Joan is a Senior Associate with our Energy and Infrastructure practice. She possesses over nine years experience in commercial and corporate law with a focus on energy, natural resources, project development and management, employment advisory and real estate. 

Prior to joining the Firm, she gained extensive experience from different law firms and projects including being team lead for acquisition of land for the TILENGA feeder pipeline under Atacama Consulting and TOTAL E&P Uganda.

In 2019, she was seconded to Edwin Coe LLP in the United Kingdom under the prestigious International Lawyers Federation for Africa (ILFA) Flagship Secondment Programme.

Joan also doubles as the Firm’s Business Development Manager with a proven track record of improving the position of the firm through proposal, bid preparation and developing strategic goals for business growth.

Key matters 

• Deputy Project Manager-Legal for registration and titling of land for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) right of way in the districts of Gomba, Lwengo, Sembabule, Kyotera and Rakai.
• Team lead for acquisition of land for the construction of a main camp and pipeline yard for East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP)  in Mubende District.
• Advising Uganda Railways Corporation on reclamation and titling of the right of way for the railway line in the Northern corridor of Uganda.
